Somewhere, there is a picture of me asleep. My head is laying on my coloring book and I still have a crayon in my hand. I’ve no idea how old I am. I must have loved coloring. I was tired, but I just couldn’t leave the picture unfinished. I still love to color. Nowadays I use colored pencils and I am much better at staying in the lines. Coloring brings me a certain childlike joy and oddly enough is a great relaxation tool. All of this brings me to wallpaper. I stumbled across this on Craftzine. I would love to have some of this wallpaper. I don’t even really care what kind of design or picture is used. The idea of being able to color on the wall is delightful and somehow quite exciting.

For those of you who have inquiring minds, this wallpaper can be purchased at Nineteenseventythree and the art was created by Jon Burgerman.

Website of the Week – Vintage Indie!
November 26, 2008Do you like flea markets and thrift stores? Do you like vintage and vintage inspired design? If you answered yes, then you must visit Vintage Indie! This is one of my favorite blogs! I read it on a regular basis and find lots of cool items and ideas. Vintage Indie also has weekly giveaways. I was blessed enough to be a winner not long ago. I eagerly anticipated the arrival of my prize and was so excited to finally find a package in the mail. I won a clutch from Amy at The Peach. She also included an awesome little freebie.

Here’s me in my new purple hat with my wonderful new clutch! Aren’t the cupcakes adorable?

Here’s my awesome freebie! I’m thinking of making the little record player into a magnet. I can’t decide whether to make thumbtacks or jewelry out of the little records. So many ideas!
You will also find some great tutorials at Vintage Indie. Last night I found this wonderful tutorial for making corsages. Aren’t these delightful?!

I truly hope I’ve convinced you to visit Vintage Indie. It will definitely be worth your time.

Stocking Stuffers!
November 23, 2008Just wanted to share a little idea I came up with while holiday gift buying. We decided to simplify our shopping this year by buying giftcards. With a giftcard for their favorite mercantile or cantina they can have fun and get just what they want for Christmas. While wandering through the Christmas departments of our local shops I kept seeing these beautiful stockings. It occurred to me that the giftcards would fit right inside the stocking, making a perfect giftwrap.

November 17, 2008I found this wonderful shop courtesy of Modish’s November Giveaway! Lisa makes a vast array of adorable pendants using scrabble tiles. She also accepts custom orders and right now she has a buy 2 get one free sale happening. She has fifteeen pages of colorful, bright, whimsical pendants. Complete with Hat and Gloves
November 17, 2008While doing some Christmas shopping Friday night, my husband found this wonderful hat! It is so pretty and quite vintage looking. It just happened to be on sale and looks good with my round face (thanks grandma Morgan!). I just couldn’t resist bringing it home. I wore it to church Sunday morning and received many wonderful comments all around. A number of sweet ladies mentioned how they used to wear hats, how much their husbands liked them in hats, and even suggested getting their hats out once again. Who knows, maybe I’ve started a new trend! Trend or no, I absolutely adore and love my wonderful hat, and wanted to share with all of you!

Count Your Blessings!
November 17, 2008Has anyone else noticed that as soon as the Halloween goodies are gone from the store shelves, the Christmas goodies appear? It’s already starting to get more and more crowded at the stores. My nephews are already talking about Christmas trees and their Mom and Dad have already put up lights outside. I love Christmas! It is one of my fave holidays and I have nothing against Christmas trees or lights. I only have one question. What happened to Thanksgiving? You remember Thanksgiving don’t you? It’s that day set aside to count our blessings and show some gratitude. If you’re still having trouble remembering then think about pilgrims, indians, turkey, and pumpkin pie! Remember, yet? Well, I’ve been giving a great deal of thought to Thanksgiving and even making a “blessings” list to help put me in the right frame of mind. Thus far my list includes my sweet husband, my nieces and nephews, my newest niece (Kyleigh) coming into this world happy and healthy, my new hat of course (see previous post), email from The Peach (my package is on its way), and even the mundane, like finished laundry. I have also decided to participate in National Tie One On Day (see button at right)! I purchased an apron the other day and plan to deliver it and some pumpkin bread to some dear friends. I’m already looking forward to the opportunity to visit with my adopted grandparents. And finally in the spirit of Autumn and Thanksgiving my decorations.

Simple table decor

These flowers and paper decorations are found on a record stand

These cardboard cutouts were purchased 3 for $1.00 and remind me of my childhood! They are gracing my kitchen cabinets.
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and don’t forget to Count your Blessings!

Born to Shop!
November 13, 2008Serve Him. ”Serve only the Lord your God and fear Him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4 Serve God by serving others.
Honor Him. ”All honor to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is by his boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being born again. Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 Honor God for who He is and for He allowed you to be through Christ.
Obey Him. ”Those who obey God’s word really do love Him. That is the way to know whether or not we live in him.” 1 John 2:5 Obey God. Obedience to Him is the sincerest expression of love.
Praise Him. ”All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us.” 2 Corinthians 1:3 Praise God for his greatness and goodness in all situations and all circumstances.
