Thanks for the Furniture!

It all started with a phone call from my Dad. It seems he and my stepmom are doing a little redecorating. They are bringing in some new pieces of furniture and needed to find a new home for some of the pieces already owned. “Would you be interested,” Dad asked? I hesitated until the word antique found its way into the conversation. How does one turn down anything antique? Of course, the only way to make room for new furniture was to find a home for a couple of old pieces. Somehow this led to cleaning out and reorganizing some space. My husband found a newlywed couple in need of some furniture. They came and picked up an item or two. We took a donation to Goodwill and my Dad showed up a day early with the new stuff. Needless to say it has been exciting, hectic, and little crazy around my house. We are now the proud owners of a corner curio cabinet that once belonged to my Grandmother, an antique curio purchased by my Dad, and a beautiful new dining table set. The true excitement, for me at least, has been two part. First, I divided my Kewpie collection and a few antique knickknacks between the curios. This freed up some much needed shelf space for books. I no longer have books piled here and there throughtout the house. They have a home! Secondly, we were able to reallocate some space and I now have a crafty space! My beading and other crafty supplies have a home and I have a place to work. I also moved a chair and lamp into my space for reading. I am still getting some things in order, though. For instance, our record player is currently in my new crafty corner. We want to put it on the record stand in the living room, but our little 4ft. tree is already in residence there. We will take care of that after the holidays. Still I am quite happy and excited. I’ll try to take a few pics later today or tomorrow and get them posted. Thanks Dad and Paula for the new furniture and the extra space!
