Hello Dear Friends

How has your summer been? I do hope you are having fun and staying cool. It is hot and humid here in Texas and although I am enjoying my summer, I am looking forward to cooler weather. I have played with my nieces and nephews, went to a baby shower for a dear family friend. You know, one of those people who although isn’t related is just like family. I have watched Carly grow from a sweet little baby into a beautiful young woman.

It was so much fun to see her and wish her a very happy future. I also went shopping with my niece, mom, and sister. A little girl time is always fun, even more so when shopping is involved. I purchased a pair of really cute, red, heart earrings on sale, and my mom bought me an awesome shirt. After this adventure filled Memorial Day Weekend hubby took a week off of work. We spent it hanging around the house, chillin’ out, and relaxing. It may not have been very exciting, but is was fun and a much needed break. I have found a few treasures lately in our regular visits to the local flea market. I purchased two adorable vintage scarves. I loved the image on this one.

And this one was just too cute not to bring home.

Quite coincidentally, I found this lovely post on Elegant Musings all about vintage scarves. Please do check it out!
I also purchased a glamourous and gorgoreous tiara because every girl needs a pretty crown! It is just one of those little things that can make one feel beautiful and special.

I couldn’t resist this little gramophone pencil sharpener.

One of my favorite finds was this towel with a map of Ireland! How cool is this?

We spent a lovely evening with dear friends grilling burgers and eating brownies and ice cream. It is so fun just to sit and visit for bit. We all seem to be so busy and it’s hard to find a date when everyone is free. Everyone had fun and I know we all cherished the time together. Lastly, but not least, my husband brought home a vintage typewriter. It is an old Remington that the school was going to throw out. Micah rescued it and says he is going to type his novel on it. I think it is cool to have a piece of history sitting on the desk. It’s fun to type on too!

June has indeed been a fun and busy month! We are looking forward to the long weekend. We are not sure yet just what we will do. What about you? Have you big plans for the 4th of July weekend? Wherever you are and whatever you do, have fun, cherish time with family and friends, and please do stay safe!

A Message to my Blog Friends

Posted on

Hello blog friends! I’ve missed you. I’ve been visiting my family over the weekend and then just trying to get caught up. I’m sorry I missed Highlights From Etsy this week. It will be resumed next week. I hope all of you enjoyed the long Memorial Day weekend as much as I. I played with my nieces and nephews, did a little shopping, and attended a baby shower for a sweet young lady. It was very busy and lots of fun! I have several fun blog posts planned so please come back and visit often!

Old Photos

I’m working a little project that led to going through some old photos.  Thought I’d share a couple of my faves!

I just love my grandma's hat in this one.

I think this one of my mom is pretty cool!

Spring Break Week!

Last week was Spring Break which means fun and relaxation.  We went to DeQueen and did a little babysitting for my niece and nephews.  It was fun spending the day with the kids.  We painted, coloured, played video games, and read books!  The rest of the week we spent just being a bit lazy.  I read and Micah watched movies.

Birthday Peep Cake!

Spring is right around the corner and that means Easter is coming!  I am already seeing Easter baskets and candy in the stores.  One of my favorite Easter candies is Peeps.  I love these marshmallow and sugar treats and look forward to them every year.  My birthday also happens in the Spring and usually sometime around Easter.  Although the big day has yet to arrive, my Mom decided to celebrate a little early with a Peeps cake!

Isn’t it grand?  It also had dark chocolate chips on it which may be a little hard to see for all the candles (my sister’s idea).  It was a delicious cake and a wonderful surprise!

The Perfect Halloween Treat

I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our household.  She is 3 months old, all black, and her name is Licorice!   She is our sweet baby and the perfect Halloween treat!

Isn’t that collar just perfect for a Halloween kitty!

A Family Visit

We just returned from a fun trip visiting family. As you can see we’re a silly bunch. We had fun with the nieces and nephews and I spent some much needed quality time with my mom and sister. We also visited the local flea market as well as the bookstore. I now have lots and lots of Agatha Christie to read as well as two lovely vintage books which I plan to share with you in the coming days. One is full of crafty goodness and the other has some lovely decorating ideas. I found a pretty cameo picture to go with my collection, which I hoped to get photographed in the next day or two. I also discovered that a medieval castle is being built and will share all details in a later post. In short I’m home, unpacked, and have lots of goodies to share.
