My Dream Library

A library is place to read and so should be well lit. This is what one would think, however, my dream library is dark. I love natural light for reading and therefore will have a very large window. Near that a chaise lounge with a darling little side table. All the wood in the room must be dark and at least one wall needs floor to ceiling shelves with a library ladder. I adore library ladders! My library simply must have one. All other shelves/shelving must have glass doors or be open. I want to see all of my books! Another corner will have a leather chair and ottoman with a floor lamp. I also want a small writing desk for keeping in touch with friends and family. It must be a roll top or drop lid with lots of little nooks and crannies. I want dark hardwood floors with a huge rug and dark, thick drapes on the window. For decorations I will need some pretty bookends, a wall decal reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe, and a painting or two. I really want the painting of a girl reading which is pictured above. We had a copy of this painting in our house growing up and I’ve always loved it. It would make me think of home and warmth and coziness. As for colors, everything should be in dark browns, reds, and golds. And there you have it, my dream library courtesy of Olioboard.

What does your dream library look like? Please share!

Here are a few things I fell in love with on the internet this week.

I love these earrings found on Etsy at InspiredbyElizabeth! They are so glamourous!

Can anything be better than a house made of bookshelves? I don’t think so! See more at the Kazuya Morita Architecture Studio.

I was simply blown away by this French apartment decorated in a Moroccan style. Tres magnifique!!! You can see more at 79 Ideas.

I am fascinated by The Burning House site. What would you take if your house was burning? This is the question asked by Foster Huntington. People gather their chosen items, photograph them, and submit it to the website. It is interesting to say the least. So much can be learned about the individual from the picture.

Have you ever seen or heard of A Cameo Creation?  I discovered them sometime ago and fell in love.  They are the prettiest cameo portraits in lovely frames.  They will usually have a sticker on the back that says “A Cameo Creation.”  They were made in the 1940’s through 1960’s.  They can be found in thrift stores, flea markets, and antique shops and are inexpensive.  I fell in love immediately and began my own little collection.  We spent the weekend rearranging a few pieces of furniture which led to moving pictures as well.  I hung a bit of my collection here in the living room.  They are know on my mind so I thought I’d see what Etsy had to offer.  I found some lovely pieces!

1. The Tin Tiara
2. Analogueshop
3. VinTiDgCo

And now a couple of shots of my collection!

Sweet Dreams

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind around here.  We decided it was time for a new mattress.  The old one was really very old.  So, we went mattress shopping and since our frame had some problems of its own, we decided to buy a new frame and upgrade to a Queen size bed.  Of course, the store didn’t have any frames so we had to wait.  This was fine though because it gave us an opportunity to search out new bedding!  Hubby didn’t find this nearly as much fun as I did.  Shopping is always fun, right!?  Anyway, we visited every place in town we could think of trying to find a bedspread or comforter that we both liked.  We finally found success at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  The frame arrived a week ago, however, the store had over sold and our mattress was gone.  The owner was really very nice and wanted to make the sale so he upgraded our mattress for the original quoted price.  The store loaded the truck and we headed home and spent the next couple of hours moving mattresses around.  All is settled now and we are loving the new bed.  I never imagined that a few inches could such a big difference.

Once that was settled we had to address my computer issues.  Between blogging, the shop, my music, pictures, crafting, and my e-book reader, the computer just couldn’t keep up.  I had obviously outgrown my system.  I needed something with more power and we found the perfect machine at a good price.  So after a week of moving files and setting up my Zune and e-reader, I have a beautiful new machine that can keep up with me!   The groceries are purchased and the housework is finally caught up which is good because this week we are having a Gospel Meeting at church so our evenings are busy, busy, busy.   We have an awesome speaker at our meeting and we are very blessed!
