Wuthering Heights

WooHoo!!!!!! I did it! I read this book for the first time ever and I’m so glad I did. It is indeed a dark novel. Love and hate are often not far from one another. This is so much more than a love story between Heathcliff and Catherine. There are so many affected by their love (if it indeed be love) and their actions. I pitied Heathcliff in the beginning, then despised him and his selfishness, and in the end I found pity for him once again. A book, I think, is good anytime it makes one feel anything, even loathing. Though my feelings for Heathcliff were strong and much of the book I found to be horrific in nature, I did find myself caught up in the story and wanting to finish. It is a good study of human nature and the lasting impact our actions can and do have on one another. I don’t know that I will ever pick up this book again, but I do recommend that everyone read it at least once. It is an unforgettable experience.
