Lissie Loves. . . . . .

Hey folks! I hope everyone is having a lovely, relaxing weekend! I thought I’d pop in and share a few things I’ve found this week while wandering around the web.

First up are these adorable deer found on SheWalksSoftly and made by Violetpie.

I discovered this darling book jewelry on Reading is Fashionable. Earrings, pins, necklaces, and hair accessories can all be found at BookEarrings.

Have you heard of the Vintagemobile. This old school bus travels around the Dallas area selling vintage clothing. I so want to visit this bus! I found the Vintagemobile on a recently discovered treasure of a blog, Gypsy Dust Vintage. You really should check it out!

Speaking of Gypsy Dust Vintage, it was there that I discovered the lovely illustrations of Inslee.

I am also excited to learn about the collaboration between milliner Albert Swanepoel and Target. Can’t wait for these to hit the shelves!

Ever wondered if you are a 21st Century Romantic?  Take this fun quiz on a bloomsbury life to find out.  While you are there check out the rest of her blog.  I think you’ll like it.

That’s all for now. I have more goodies I can’t wait to share, so see ya later.

Queen of Hearts

Maybe its all the talk of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland or just my love of playing cards, but this little gem of a cookbook leaped off the shelf and into my hands. I simply had no choice but to bring it home. It was published in 1955 and has some delightful illustrations that I wanted to share.

Aren’t these just wonderful?! The recipes seem fairly simple and sound delicious. My dear hubby wants me to try the Graham Cracker Cake. It does look really good!

Illustrations by Martin Harris

I discovered Martin Harris’s illustrations recently while perusing the world wide web and have become completely enamored. They have a vintage storybook quality that I find quite charming.

“A Day at the Zoo”

“The Haunted Railway”

He is a Melbourne artist who works with watercolour and gouache. His works can be found on his website, MartinHarrisArt, and at the Outre Gallery. He has also made some works for the Third Annual PoMoNoBo Hallowe’en Art Show taking place on October 2, 2009 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

“Little Gothic Library Vol 2 – The Masque of the Red Death”

Mr. Harris has created illustrations of 3 other Poe stories/poems. This one is my favorite! As a child, I had this story in a book with a cassette tape. I used to read and listen over and over again. I realize that this is something of a morbid story, but I assure you I had a very happy childhood.

Stampington announces new publications in 2009!

Two of my favorite magazines, Artful Blogging and Somerset Life, are produced by Stampington & Company. They have several new publications coming in 2009 and are currently seeking submissions.

I don’t know which one to be more excited about. They all look so wonderful. If you want more information about these publications or want to make a submission click here.

Kareena Zerefos

Kareena Zerefos is an artist and illustrator from Australia. I discovered her work while perusing www.indie.com.au/. She creates some of the sweetest pictures. I absolutely fell in love with her work from the beginning. Aren’t these just beautiful?
