Attic Treasures

Hello and welcome to a new, old feature here on Butterfly Dreams. I love sharing the treasures I find at flea markets and thrift stores. Coming up with a different name for each post of this nature is not so much fun. As a result I have decided to introduce a new/old feature called Attic Treasures where I will share photos of my latest treasures. Here you will find all sorts of vintage treasures and will have all the fun of exploring grandma’s attic or in my case grandpa’s garage. My grandpa loved yard sales and auctions. He bought all kinds of stuff and then had his own garage sales. His garage was always full of stuff. It was a grand adventure to dig in all the boxes and see what treasures I could find. I am still treasure hunting today. Most recently, I uncovered this pretty alarm clock.

I just love the colors and it’s perfect on my bedside table.

Over the summer I found several treasures while visiting my mom. One of those was this very pretty, glamourous lipstick holder/mirror. I carry it in my make up bag and feel so elegant and glamourous whenever I use it.

For awhile now I have been searching for a red beaded necklace. I was thrilled to find this one in my favorite booth. It’s perfect.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this maiden voyage of Attic Treasures! There will be more to come! Happy Hunting!!!!

Water, Life, and other Stuff

I think we can all agree that water is precious and it gives life. One can’t truly understand just how precious water is until it’s gone. Texas has endured a drought this summer that has led to wildfires across the state. The loss of homes, land, trees, and life has been unbelievable. In our own small part of the state we’ve seen smoke so thick it looked liked great clouds and have found ourselves longing for running water. Our well has begun to go dry due to a lack of rain. There is a bit of water there, but not enough for laundry, dishes, baths, and all the other things which require water. We’ve been doing our best to conserve for the last few weeks and will continue to do so. We are blessed with good friends who have offered us a place to bathe and wash clothes. We are now using paper plates, bowls, cups, and plastic silverware. So far we are doing fine, but this lack of water has sure thrown our routine out of whack. All kinds of little things have come up. Things I never gave a thought to before are now of the greatest importance. Still we are very blessed. God is indeed very good!

I’ve also been very very busy getting ready to teach bible class, planning Halloween decorations and a small party, doing a little shopping, tackling a crafty project or two, and getting ready for my littlest niece’s 3rd birthday party. I hope to have some pictures for you soon. In the meantime here are a few things I’ve found around web that made me swoon.

These pet beds from Pipsqueak & Petunia are just too cute. They have lovely collars too!

I just love this filigree bat necklace found on She Walks Softly. It’s perfect for Halloween!

I would love to visit this tea parlor found on 79 Ideas! Isn’t it pretty?

And finally, I love this little cottage found on Hello My Dear. It’s so pretty. I love the white walls and the pops of color.

Flexing Creative Muscles

Posted on

Today I decided it was high time I set aside business and stress and do a little something fun and creative. So I got up this morning and went into the kitchen and baked banana bread using this recipe from Vanilla and Lace.

The bread turned out perfectly delicious! I am so pleased with the recipe. It calls for honey instead of sugar and is super easy to make. Of course, I had even more fun using my vintage Sunbeam mixer.

After a break for lunch, I sat down to play with beads. I has this wonderful idea for a necklace and it turned out just the way I’d imagined! I love it when that happens!

This was made using a red coral rose pendant and Ruby dyed Jade beads! I used the same round beads to make this pair of pretty earrings!

I strayed a just a bit from the red to make this bracelet to go with an outfit of mine! I was quite pleased with the way it turned out!

Well, that’s about it for my day. Time to put my feet up and enjoy a good book!
